Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. - June 06 - June 07, 2019

Stage Dreams Youth Theater

 Director's Note

Wonka is not a magician, he is not from another world, though he seems that way. He is simply a person with an unabated imagination, amidst a world severely lacking in it. Though the world around it drags with normalcy, the Wonka factory is a symbol of hope, of positivity, and of creativity. That kind of symbol is something we as humans consistently need throughout time. A sign that there is magic and hope to be found or created no matter where we are or what sort of situation we’re in. It’s why Willy Wonka and Charlie’s stories have held up for so long, and remain magical, despite the changing world outside the play.

Your children have worked tirelessly for this production. This show gives students endless opportunities to think outside the box and to be creative in their storytelling. They have taken those opportunities in stride, and they have a wonderful story to share with you.

I am so fortunate to direct alongside such a brilliant team of instructors, and an inspiring group of actors. I hope you find this show as hopeful and as magical as I do. Please enjoy Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr.
