Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - December 08

Standard Middle School

 End Notes

A note from the director...

I grew up watching the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer TV special every December when I was young. I was obsessed with it! Apparently, I loved it so much I practically had it memorized. My mom told me that when I was young and I went to visit Santa at the mall, instead of telling him what I wanted for Christmass I quizzed him on his adventures with Rudolph, Hermey, and Yukon, and all my favorite parts of the movie.

So here we are many, many, many years later - I am now a theatre director - and much to my surprise, my Drama Performance class happily chose to perform my childhood favorite Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for our Winter Show. It has brought back so many great memories. I love the music and now that it's officially December, I hear these songs wherever I go - in the car, at the store, on TV etc. - it is like the show is following me!

I am very proud of these students and all of the hard-work, time, and energy they put into preparing this show for you tonight. For most of them, this is their first time acting or doing tech for a show. They have definitely learned that putting on a show is a TEAM effort - every one of them is extremly imprortant to making the show run smoothly and successfully telling this story. I am extremly proud of their effort and willingness to follow my directions in order to entertain you all tonight.

So with that said, I hope you all enjoy our performance of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, whether it is your first time hearing the story of Rudolph and his friends, or whether you have seen the TV special many times - like me! I hope this is a fun way for you and your family to kick off the holiday season.

Thank you for coming here tonight to support these students and the arts. We hope you enjoy the show!
