Strawberry Hill Players

 Director's Note

Welcome to The Strawberry Hill Players’ production of 42nd Street! We’re thrilled to present this classic, dance-heavy musical—our first in many years. One of my goals as a director is to ensure that every student who spends four years in this program experiences a variety of theatrical styles and productions. With 42nd Street, we’ve taken on a true challenge: demanding choreography and a rich, historical time period.

The cast spent countless rehearsals not only learning intricate dance numbers, but also diving deep into character work—exploring relationships and storytelling through both song and movement. It has been truly inspiring to watch these students pour their energy, passion, and effort into bringing this show to life. The results speak for themselves.

This is the most ambitious production we’ve mounted during my time at Stamford High School. The sets, lights, and costumes are on a whole new level, and that’s thanks to the incredible adult production team behind the scenes. We are so fortunate to have such talented and dedicated professionals guiding our students.

A heartfelt thank you to our set designer, Ryan, and our technical director, Wayne, for building such an extraordinary world on stage. To our music director, Jerold, and pit conductor, Adam—thank you for making the score soar. And to our choreographer, Caitlin, and her assistant, Renata—this show would not have been possible without your vision, energy, and relentless commitment to excellence. What you’ve achieved with these students is nothing short of remarkable.

I’d also like to thank my co-advisor and costumer, Annie, and my assistant director, Stephen. These two individuals have been essential to the success of our program in recent years. Their dedication and countless hours of hard work have gone above and beyond expectations.

To the incredible cast and crew—thank you for your passion, commitment, and heart. The talent on this stage is astounding. Many of our cast members are seniors who have been with SHP for several years, making this a bittersweet moment. I’ve never worked with a more hardworking and gifted group. This senior class has left a lasting legacy on our program, and their impact will be felt long after they graduate.

Finally, thank you for joining us tonight. Your support means the world to our students and to this program. Please continue to support the arts in our schools and community. Now sit back, relax, and “come and meet those dancing feet” as you enjoy The Strawberry Hill Players’ production of 42nd Street.
