Let me start by expressing how it has been an honor for me to help our scholars develop during the last two years. In a short period of time we have grown from a small theater club into the well established Phoenix Is Lit Theater Program at HSLA-Harlem. Each day I was inspired by our leadership team, academic teachers, school staff, supportive families and motivated scholars to raise the bar of this art form we call Theater. I am very fortunate to work with a school community that does not shy away from what is considered a challenge, but is always willing to embrace struggle head on. Our scholar artists have come to feed off of that energy where they can learn to perform with joy. The future is bright for this group of young thespians therefore I look forward to applauding them years from now for what they have accomplished.
We chose “CLUE:high school edition” as our production this time around for the farcical comedy, outstanding characters, iconic performances, physical challenge, and an enjoyable board game suitable for most ages. “Clue” has thrilled audiences for decades and continues to be a fan favorite for those brave enough to take a mysterious journey with danger and surprise lurking in every room of the Boddy Manor.
None of this would have been possible without the dedication of many, for whom words will not begin to define their impact. Dr. Eva Moskowitz for her continued commitment to providing Fine Arts education to the students of New York City. A special thanks to our dedicated Principal Mrs. German, Assistant Principal, Mr. Thomas; Associate Deans of Academics, Justin Dean and Ms Brown, and of course our unforgettable Dean of Arts and Athletics, Ms Ramos.
We would like to acknowledge our amazing Talent Teachers and Scholars. Mrs. Harden, (Theater), Mr. Wildman-Foster aka Mr. WF, (Theater), Mr. Shipley, (Set Design), Ms Preble, (Art Design), Ms. Aronowitz (Commercial Dance & Hip Hop), Ms. Klaft, (Conservatory Dance), Ms. Molina (Scholar Life) and Ms. Deters (Scholar Life). Big Shout out to our Athletic Coaches for their support. Coach Lo Russo, Coach Rivera, Coach Dancy, and Coach Dawkins have supported our production every step of the way. Each of you have shared your experience, creativity, motivation, and joy to make this production a truly collaborative effort. We would also like to recognize our outstanding Content Teachers and Administrative Team that make HSLA-Harlem a delightful work environment.
Much gratitude to our diligent Operations Team, Ms Silverio, Mr. Sisco, Ms Toribio, Ms Wilson, Ms. Negron and Ms Swinton. You provide safety, organization, and excitement daily to our school. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated team.
Our deepest appreciation once again to our co-located Urban Assembly schools and the surrounding area for embracing HSLA-Harlem into the community. Lastly, thank you to the entire School Public Safety Team for their assistance, understanding, and expertise.
The cast and crew of CLUE: high school edition would like to give all of you a round of applause for continuing to help their dreams come true!
