Director's Note:

Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd.  Sweeney Todd has been my favorite musical for many years.  I have seen many productions: community theater, professional, touring, movie, Broadway.  My favorite by far is the original 1979 Broadway cast with Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou.  This production is a nod to that original production, with stage blood, body dumps and chutes.  The technicality of this production has been quite challenging, a fine dance between theatrics, safety and budget.  We decided to bring in an intimacy coordinator and fight choreographer for this production. Simone and Cassie have been wonderful to work with.  They have taken many awkward and potentially dangerous moments and have put the cast and production team at ease.  I highly recommend Simone and Cassie to other theater groups.  This has been the most challenging play I have ever directed. I couldn’t have done it without the extremely talented and dedicated production team, design teams, cast, crew, and pit.  Everyone has worked very hard to create an incredible production.  Cast and crew come to rehearsals prepared to work and are very respectful of the production team and each other. Our two swings have worked extremely hard to learn every male and female role in case they need to step in. As I watch rehearsals I get goosebumps from the tight and sometimes dissonant Sondheim harmonies.  I hope you enjoy our production of Sweeney Todd as much as we have enjoyed creating it.  Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd.  He served a dark and a vengeful God.  What happened then, well that the play and he wouldn’t want us to give it away.  Not Sweeney, not Sweeney Todd.  The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
