Director's Note
At some point in your life, you have seen a Peanuts character, comic strip or animated special. Most of us have a special character or scene that we remember from those experiences. Over the years, Charles Schultz added many characters that are not in this musical. The six principal characters in this story are original Peanuts characters in all of their glory. The ensemble around them are their friends and classmates in the world around them.
When we started this journey together, I was impressed at how quickly this cast gelled. They truly are a family that works and plays together. It has been a tremendous joy and blessing to see them work together in this process. They help each other in so many ways. They are still young enough to remember the joys of early childhood when the world is still so simple. They have enjoyed creating these beloved characters and sharing them with you. At times, I wish that I could bottled their exuberance and joy of life's simple pleasures. We, as adults, sometimes get so caught up in the stresses of daily life that we forget the joys we felt as children. I hope that each of you takes a little bit of that joy home with you tonight.
I would like to say an immense thank you to the parents and families of this cast. Your children have shared their talents with Mrs. Mitchell, Mr. Reynolds and I every day. But they have also shared their hearts with us as well. They are wonderful young people who will someday go out into the adult world and do amazing things! We know that you are so proud of them!
