Sunny Hills High

  A word from our Directors

Camille Chartier- Our Vocal Director

Camille graduated from Sunny Hills high school in 2014 and is in her fifth semester at Fullerton College where she is a Musical Theatre major. She has been singing and performing since she was in second grade and hopes to continue her musical theatre journey at UC Irvine soon. When at Sunny Hills, she was a member of the theatre department as well as a production assistant her senior year. In addition to directing, she is also an avid performer and some of her credits include Little shop of Horrors (Audrey), My Fair Lady (Eliza), Grease (Rizzo), Shrek! The Musical (Fiona), Seussical the Musical (Sour Kangaroo), The Crucible (Abigail), Almost, Maine (Rhonda), and she is currently in a one night only production of The Spitfire Grill (in concert) at Fullerton College as Effy Krayneck. This is her third year directing at Sunny Hills and is now taking the leap from Assistant Vocal Director (Footloose!; Legally Blonde) to Vocal Director (The Addams Family).

To the cast and crew: I am so proud of all of you! Every year I am astounded by the work we are able to put on stage and 2016 is no exception. You all have worked so hard and I hope you have thoroughly enjoyed the process as much as I have. Thank you for trusting me in guiding you on this journey and for trusting yourselves to go above and beyond what you thought you were capable of. You all should be very proud of yourselves. Great job! Break a leg!!

To my fellow directors: It has been such a blessing working alongside such talented individuals! This process has been one I’ll never forget and I thank each one of you for that. Christine, your choreography never ceases to amaze me. I am proud to say that I’ve gone from one of your students, standing on that stage learning from you, to standing by your side, (continuing to learn from you) and calling you a friend. You are amazing! To Celine and Isaac: You both have done an incredible job in student directing this show. I was nervous to lose both of you from the casting process, but having you on the director’s side has been such joy! You both have so much talent and I’m glad you got to explore a different side to theatre than simply performing. You both offered different skills that came together to create a beautiful piece of theatre! Well done! To Dre: And once again, I’m very jealous that I don’t go to this school anymore and don’t get to perform on your sets. You have taught the student so much and without you, the students truly would be performing on a blank stage. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and presence with us! Measure twice, cut once ♥ And finally, To Luna: Thank you so much for offering your talents and time to assist me and the students. You have been a blessing for me to lean on when things seemed overwhelming and it has been relieving to know that I have someone who’s willing to help out in whatever is needed. Thank you! To my directors: Break a leg!!

To Jade: Thank you for standing by my side through all of this craziness. I know things get hectic, but your love and support keeps me going strong and I can’t wait for you to see the finished product. I love you!

To my family: You guys are so patient. Thanks for not getting mad when I’m out from 7am to 9pm or later and just letting me do my thing. Mom, you have always stood by my side and you have been to every single performance or I’ve been in or helped with. That support is what keeps me going strong. Thank you, all of you, for always encouraging me to chase my dreams and for reassuring me that I am good enough. I love you! (♥ Venus. Always in our hearts ♥)

To Gies: Seven years together and we’re not sick of each other yet. I am proud to say that I started as your student, bright eyed and eager, and have grown into your friend, ready to conquer the world of theatre together. Thank you for trusting me with this process and with your department. Through your program and your friendship, I have never felt more confident in my abilities and more proud of who I am as an artist. You have made me the performer and person I am today and for that I can never repay you. I only hope I’ll be half the woman you are one day in talent and heart. Here’s to who knows how many more years! Break a leg!!
