Director's Note: What is "normal"? How do we keep the status quo going effectively? Is it healthy? Is it making us truly happy? We are all met with something in our life that gives us moments of grief, anxiety, sadness. Sometimes those moments last a lifetime. How does that affect the dynamic of a household? How does that affect our future decisions in life? What steps can be taken to "get us back to good"? Is being "neutral" or "fine" normal? Is being happy all the time normal?
The mental health stigma has much debate surrounding it. The battle between therapists & medicines vs. acting like everything is ok. Openness vs. Suppression. Or anywhere between the two extremes. Some choices will work for some and not others. No matter which side of the fence you are on, communication on any level
with someone you trust will undeniably move us in the right direction.
It may not be perfect. It may not be 100% normal.
But something Next to Normal will be ok.
