From Mrs. Freda..LET THE SHOW RAGE ON! It is difficult to believe that a year has passed, and another SMS musical is premiering! Each and every year, I am impressed by the talents, and enthusiam of our students, and how much they are willing to give to make the musical a success. The Disney musicals are my favorites to direct because of their characters, music, and messages, and Frozen is no exception. Being the youngest of four sisters, I know what it means to share that special bond, like in Frozen, in good times, and in bad. Love, and family really do conquer all!
To the cast and crew....The closeness, and chemistry of our castmembers resonates to this show. As I watched rehearsals and scenes with our young, middle, and adult "Anna's" and "Elsa's", there were moments that I would forget for that they were acting, and were not sisters! There were also moments during rehearsals that I would find myself in tears or feeling "goosebumps" because the students moved me with their talents! I am always so proud! Much Like how Elsa evolves from a worried and careful girl, uncomfortable in her own skin, to a confident woman able to control her powers, I can say the same for our wonderful castmembers. I have seen emence growth from these students, not only from the first day of auditions, but for the two to four years that I have worked with many of them. These young actors and actresses may start off shy, and unsure but then they evolve to confident, and willing performers who take risks! Our crew proves to be so worthy of much attention, and praise because they drive the scenes.. from behind the scenes! Much Love to All! XXOO
To my directing partner... Thank you for spearheading , and being determined to make the scenic projections happen. You not only brought SMS into the 21st century, but you helped to capture the Disney essence of this show. Thank you for remaining positive. Again it has been a pleasure working with you this year, and as I said last year, we make a great team! We both share the same vision, and both of us are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that our cast and crew reach the heights of their potential! Much Love! XXOO
To the parents... Thank you as always for "lending" us your children for several months! Being a teacher is one of the most rewarding experiences that I have ever accomplished n my ife, but working with the students in this capacity, outside of the classroom, is even more special! Thank you! Now witness ... for the first time.... in forever!... Frozen, JR. It will surely melt your hearts!
From Mrs. Potts
It is my honor and pleasure to have co-directed Frozen Jr. this year. Our amazing cast was able to channel their inner Elsa and "Let it Go" for our school, community and families. Their dedication and hard work has been left on the stage for all to enjoy. I have embraced the challenge of helping to put this show together, and never in my dreams would I have thought I would be choreographing and dancing, yes, dancing, with the students.
Musical theatre calls for a unique child and the bonds that are formed are something to cherish. I hope you all remain close and always remember the great times that were shared. My heart swells with the pride felt when you radiate on the stage. Our snow chorus filled the stage with beautiful flowing snowflakes and our summer chorus brought true sunshine with their singing and dancing. Just like Olaf's warm hugs, I embrace you all with much love!!
What Mrs. Freda has taught me these last two years is immeasurable. From blocking scenes, to lighting, and sound, it goes on and on!! Yes, we do make a good team and I thank you for this!! A huge thank you to our school community, administrators, maintenance, custodial staff, (Frozen Jr. commands A LOT of glitter), parents and of course our families.
After many sleepless nights, for "The First Time in Forever" our amazing cast will WOW you all with thier amazing energy and talents in Frozen Jr.
