I can't believe this is our 9th year of the Champion School's Drama Club. We have come a long way...every year, I try to do something new...in the past, the focus has mainly been vignette style plays, but this year, we are doing a full One-Act play, complete with set and costumes. Needless to say, this new venture brings its own new set of theatrical challenges and opportunities to creatively problem solve in a collaborative environment. No easy task, but I welcome the challenge and the never-ending roller coaster of the theatrical process. With all the ups and downs, I can truly say that I love what I do!
I'm thrilled to work with such a talented cast and crew!! You all were my inspiration to take on a play of this nature. We have had a crazy schedule in preparation for this production and everyone has put in countless hours to make this show a success. We have laughed together, cried together and tonight we will celebrate together! We have grown as a family, and I know you will "do a good job," fairies!! Congratulations and break a leg!!
I want to thank Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, for so many answered prayers...I am so incredibly thankful!!! We have done a lot this year...a successful trip to NYC for a Broadway tour over the summer of 2017, an incredible experience at the GA Junior Thespian Conference, and after this show, we will be prepping for a trip to Disney (May 2018) to learn about the magic behind the scenes as well as musical theatre training...The year-long Drama students have done two outreach performances at the WinnDixie Hope Lodge and Lucious Sanders Recreation Center. We will continue to expand and bring awareness to the good that our students are doing and to collaborate with our community while providing quality family-friendly entertainment. I’m thankful for the relationship that we have here at the ART Station as well as with the South Dekalb Rotary. These relationships continue to provide opportunites for our young people to showcase their talent and practically apply learning through experience.
As we all know, it takes a village...Thank you for your continued support!!!
Love you mom...you come through every year!!! Thanks to Ms. McDaniel for joining me in this journey this year...it has been a comfort having your help and assistance and someone to go through this with me. I can't thank you enough! Thanks to Mr. Rhodes and the administrative team...To my Connections Family, Mrs. Little, Coach Pitts, Coach Owens, Mr. Wilson and the custodial staff for having my back! To all of my parents and students, I hope you have enjoyed the process, we made it to the other side!!! Special thanks to Mrs. Johnson for decorating the set, Mrs. Shumate for taking the ball and running with the costume committee, Mrs. Mitchell for holding down hospitality, Mrs. Smith for leading our publicity efforts, and Mrs. Hogges for just whatever I needed - you all were amazing and I couldn't have done this without your leadership...thank you! Thanks to my construction guys, Mr. Edmonds & both Mr. Wright - you all came through right on time and went above and beyond!!! Thanks to Dwayne for your continued support! Thanks to all my family and friends, especially Robert for being a jack of all trades as well as a rock of support for me and Jennifer for always listening and understanding. Thank you Genesis for returning to Champion to help out...you were a breath of fresh air, and I welcome you anytime!! Last but not least, thanks to all that supported the Drama Club by purchasing an ad in our first full-color playbill! Thanks to all of our vendors and patrons: The ART Station, Sam's Club, Chick Fil-A, Davidos, Subway and you!
That's a wrap!!
