    Ms. Wright teaches theatre at The Champion School and is passionate about introducing young people to the arts and developing their creative talents and confidence.  She is also a national teacher leader for theatre with the Connected Arts Network, where she leads a Professional Learning Community (PLC) for other theatre educators in the Southeast region of the United States.  She is a professional actress and is known in the acting community as Joy Hammond.  Follow her on Twitter and IG @joy_hammond

  • Jason Louder head shot

    Jason Louder

    Director, Teaching Artist

    Jason, an individual who loves life and wears many hats as an actor, teacher, coach, mentor, and more, has been fortunate to have a flourishing, transformative, and dynamic career. He played a significant role as Frank "2-BITS" Tanner in the popular CW series Black Lightning and portrayed Jamaican Drug Lord "CRESSY" in the original Hulu series Wu-Tang: An American Saga. Jason's talent extends beyond the screen, as he lent his voice to the 2016-2017 Adidas Sports Needs Creators National campaign. Through his persistent dedication to honing his craft and consistent work, Jason has gained international recognition, earning a spot alongside Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut in the hit movie SIMRAN. Jason's recent accomplishments include playing Remi Ransom in Seasons 2 and 3 of BMF on Starz. He other credits include NCIS L.A. on CBS and The Wonder Years on ABC.

    Layden is an 8th grade scholar at Champion in her first year of Drama Club.  Layden is a natural leader and was recruited by Ms. Wright to help out with backstage responsibilities due to her organizational skills, communication skills and willingness to take initiative.  She splits her time between Drama and the Champion Track team.

    Kyrah is an 8th grade scholar and this is her second year in Drama Club.  She is interested in the backstage duties that help make a show seamless!  Kyrah enjoys expressing kindness to others and being supportive to those around her.  Kyrah's future aspirations include working in child development.
