1776 - June 01 - June 03, 2017

The Clinton School for Writers and Artists

 End Notes

It has been such a pleasure to work with the cast of 1776. Their enthusiasm, commitment and talent has been the inspiration for this process. We were all thrilled to cast women in most all male lead roles and discussed what we imagined the world might have been like if it was the founding mothers. The students constantly surprise and astound me their brilliance and creativity. The cast was able to surmount challenges that offered them the experience of the power of sticking to your own truth, following your own inner guidance, fighting for what you believe in and when the influence of another can be strong, how the choices we make can define our character and determine how we choose to move forward. Quite like what the characters in the play 1776 faced!
I am very proud of these actors and honor their dedication and hard work. It is a privilege to support them in their growth. My deep gratitude goes out to Jackie Moe for her talent, patience and hard work! To John, Craig, Sabrina, Jamil, Jane and the entire tech team of students- total pros who made the production look great. To Ann and Sue who work so hard to produce the shows at Clinton. This year they definitely earned their producer wings! And to Morgan my partner in crime, who I am so grateful to for handling all the logistics and producer duties, always with a smile and ease.
To all the parents of the students in 1776, thank you for shaping such wonderful human beings, who are really stepping into their own voices with such confidence, compassion, empathy and awareness. Huzzah to them!!

It should be no secret that I love my job. The students at this school continue to amaze and inspire me.  Once again, I am enormously proud of the work that has been put into this show and I look forward to watching it unfold on stage every night. 1776 has taken us in a different and new direction and I know that the students have enjoyed making history come alive, all while still bringing humor and tremendous talent to the stage. I am so proud to be a part of this growing theatre tradition at Clinton. I want to thank Allison Talis, who truly put all of her heart and energy into this production.
Thank you to Morgan Greer who dealt with all logistical issues and helped to bring everything together. Thank you to Principal Jon Levin, Vice Principal Cheryl Goett, and all other teachers and administrators and parents who support our efforts. Thank you to our musicians and stage crew. Congratulations to all the cast, crew, and musicians! BREAK A LEG!
