In a world that often moves too fast, I’ve always felt that theatre gives us permission to slow down and breathe deeply…to laugh loudly, love boldly, and remember the solace of simply feeling something. The Wedding Singer feels like a time capsule wrapped in glitter and happiness…and underneath all of that 80s flair is something timeless: joy.
And that’s why I chose this particular show…for one huge reason: joy. And not just the kind of joy that shows up for a big musical number — I mean the kind that stays with you. The kind we need now more than ever. With this production, the goal for all of us here at TCT has been to bring joy to everyone sitting in our theatre with their eyes fixed on our stage, as well as bringing it to every person involved in the making of what you’re about to see. As you watch this performance, know that joy isn’t just a byproduct of The Wedding Singer, it’s the engine. This show runs on it. And that engine also reminds us that love is messy, funny, unexpected — and always worth the risk.
At The Colony Theatre, we believe in telling stories that bring people together. Where laughter and connection aren’t just encouraged — they’re essential. This show embodies that spirit. It’s bold, it’s romantic, it’s a little ridiculous (in the best way), and it’s a full-hearted celebration of friendship, love, second chances, and finding your voice.
So whether you’re here for the nostalgia, the music, the comedy, the high-powered dance numbers, or just to forget the world for a couple of hours — we’re so glad you’re with us. I’m endlessly grateful for the chance to create something that brings people together on a human level. Think of this production as a warm, joyful hug from all of us here, to you.
I ask that when you leave our theatre today…go spread some joy of your own.
And please be good to each other.
With big hair, big shoulder pads, and big-time gratitude,
Heather Provost
