Welcome to Oliver! This musical is based off of the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. It was published as a series in a magazine called Bentley's Miscellany in the mid 1800s. Readers would clamor for each edition of the magazine when it was released. They were all interested in the next two chapters of this unromantic portrayal of a poor parish boy named Oliver Twist. It took two years of magazine installments for the entire series to be released. At the time, this book helped to shine the light on the cruel treatment that many orphans experienced in London in the mid-19th century. Since then, there have been numerous adaptations of this novel including a motion picture, animated film and of course the musical that you will be watching today. The talented cast and crew have put their heart and sole into this performance of Oliver and we are thrilled you can join us! Please enjoy the show.
