Directors' Notes

It was quite the experience navigating a pandemic and planning (with fingers crossed) for a musical this spring. Mrs. Mugford and I were delighted when we finally were told it was going to really happen! The students have been delightful and committed, and considering that most have not had a high school musical theatre experience, the rehearsals have been productive and fruitful. Thank you to all of the students for giving your best, for being flexible, and for making changes when asked. Also, thank you to Mrs. Mugford for being easy to work with, and for being one of the kindest directors with whom I have worked!

- Sherri Matthews, Musical Director

I am so proud of the quality of work that this cast and production company have achieved. I truly believe this show is something special. I am very fortunate to work with so many talented students and colleagues, and to learn from them each day. I'd like to highlight three (of many) incredible collaborators: Sherri Matthews, Jordan Moody, and Malia Madrigal. Ms. Matthews has music abilities beyond my understanding, and our strong company is a credit to her mastery. Her support during this process has been invaluable, and I look forward to all future projects as partners. Jordan Moody is a freshman artist, and she is utterly astonishing. She accepted a huge responsibility for one so young, and was able to adapt my quirky vision into striking and original choreography with spirit and professionalism. I am in awe of her talent and work ethic. Malia Madrigal thrived in her leadership position as Assistant Director. Her hard work is seen in every moment of this production. I am so fortunate to have had in her a true professional colleague and am so proud to know the confident young adult she is today.

I'd like to send love and special thanks to Margie Madrigal, my supportive and loving family, and of course, Mr. Mugford.

-Shelby Mugford, Director
