ABOUT THE MENDELSSOHN GLEE CLUB
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
I am pleased to welcome you to another festive evening of music as we celebrate our 149th consecutive season performing choral music for men's voices. Our abilty to continue presenting these free concerts depends very much upon the generosity of our supporters, Please know how grateful we are for that support--be sure to tell your family and friends about us and make a point of inviting them to our upcoming concerts. Tonight's program includes five songs marking the150th anniversary of the end of the American Civil war, In taking note of the passing of the legendary American folk singer and political activist Pete Seeger, we have also included four numbers written by him.
As a special treat this evening we are featuring our piano accompanist Alexandra Akulich as our "guest" artist. Ms Akulich, in continuing her studies in the doctoral program at the Manhattan School of Music finds her academic requirements leave her with little time for much else. While we wish her great success in this endeavor, sadly, she won't be available to continue as our accompanist in the coming year.
On behalf of my brothers in song, I wish you all a very plaeasnt spring and summer.
The year 2016 marks the 150th anniversary of The Mendelssohn Glee Club. Plans are now underway for what promises to be an exciting event. in celebration of that anniversary. Please watch for details in the coming months.
