The Play That Goes Wrong (High School Edition) - October 18 - October 20, 2024

The Miami Valley School

 Director's Note

The Play That Goes Wrong has been a wonderful blessing to me. The process itself has been all the things that the title suggests but in all the right ways. We've faced illness, overbooked schedules, competing sports events and practices, injuries, an impermanent set construction and deconstruction nightly, and a host of other issues. But in the end, there is no greater group with whom I would have preferred to survive it all. In order to be a part of the theater, you have to love it because you will be exhausted and frustrated and nervous and stressed, but it will also fill your cup with joy. And when you are in the company of so many talented, excited, kind, hilarious people who love theater as much as you do, you are bound to echo the sentiments of Robert and say, "Good God, I needed that!"

Many thanks to David Long, Aaron Lopez, Ben Voetberg, Melissa Ertsgaard, Jordan Lopez, and the many caregivers who gave many hours to the construction of our amazing set that we get to demolish every night. Thanks to the caregivers who shuttled students to various activities sandwiched around our rehearsal schedule which fluctuated week to week. Thanks to Lindsey Roeth and Alec Shelton for your help and flexibility. Thank you to the outstanding, witty, loveable bunch of students on both cast and crew who have made this play go right in so many ways.  Your creativity and energy inspire me. Thank you to Klaus and Vex-part of the dream team. Thank you to my home support team: Roberta (bestie and puppy-sitter) and Elita who fills my heart and encourages me to pursue what makes me happy.

I am so proud of what we have created. I hope that tonight you laugh as much as I have over the last two months.
