The Mount Vernon Players, Inc.

 From the Director

First let me THANK YOU all for coming, without the support of our patrons, community theater would not exist! Let me also urge you to continue to give to the arts, so productions like this can entertain you for years to come! Be it donations of clothes for costumes, wood for sets or even monetary donations, every little bit helps, and the volunteers that work so hard to produce shows like this are forever grateful for the help.

A little about me… I started acting in theater when I was 9 in my high school’s production of Fiddler On The Roof, and I haven’t stopped since. There have been highs and lows but theater has always been a friend of mine. My first show with the Mount Vernon Players was when I was 14 in their summer musical Music Man, and that is when I started to learn the in’s and out’s of the craft. Twenty years later and I am still learning. From musical productions like Cinderella and Wizard of OZ to dinner theater show like Rumors, and Ceely, theater has been a large part of my life. Acting has always been my passion but I can also direct, stage manage, set build, sew costumes, design lights and sounds, teach choreography and even help with hair and makeup, each of these jobs are important and I am not a master of any of these crafts however I was blessed to be surrounded by knowledgeable people who have helped me along the way and for those people I am eternally grateful!

The Drowsy Chaperone has been one of my favorite musicals ever since I discovered it about 4 years ago, from the opening monologue to the curtain call it has always entertained me, ”it does what a musical is supposed to do: it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry within your head” and I hope that my rendition of this show has done the same for you! With the spit takes to the monkey motif to the Man in Chair, I hope you fall in love with this show as I have. The cast has worked so hard to make it a great show, and our only goal is to entertain you.

I would like to dedicate this show to my grandparents both living an deceased, because they have supported me though out my life in everything I have endeavored to do. One of the greatest joys in life was donating a kidney to my Grandmother Carol, and even though she went to be with the lord last year I have not regretted that blessing for even a second! Each of my grandparents has encouraged me to sing from a young age when I started in church at age 5 and all the way up to now. I know that they have prayed for me and helped me to become the person I am today. I would also like to thank my parents Jim and Bonnie, for putting up with me and my theater addiction, they have driven me to countless rehearsals and taken pictures and laughed with me when things were great and cried with me when things were not so great and been my rock through it all. I love and respect you more every day! I am proud to be your little girl. And to my Brother Josh and Sister Niki and niece Lilly thank you for listening to me sing all the time, and tell corny jokes from my shows that sometimes you don’t even understand, you always laugh with me.

Finally I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for without Him none of this would be possible! He is my pillar and strong tower and I am nothing without Him! He has brought me though some tough times and has never abandoned me, even when I left Him! He has taught me so much and I am learning more every day.  I am so grateful for His mercy and love!

And with that, please sit back relax and enjoy The Drowsy Chaperone!
