The Ned

A Message From The Ned Team

Welcome to the final show in the Ned’s children and teen theatre 2022-2023 season. We’ve traveled to Oz and Neverland, Victorian London, World War II Amsterdam, and to Zuckerman’s farm. Now we bring you to Bomont, USA, where dancing is illegal, citizens sweep trauma under the rug, and newcomers had better assimilate or else. Whether they like it or not, change is on the menu for all of the characters in Footloose. The drama unfolds with some of the most infectious songs in a musical or film — and this cast delivers on the drama and music. You’re about to see some of the greatest actors, singers, and dancers in West Tennessee, let alone Jackson.

The Ned Team is experiencing its own fair share of change. Two of our invaluable team members are moving on to new adventures. Tisha Ewing, office manager and all-around encourager and mentor, was pivotal in preparing and executing the Ned’s 2022-2023 season, the Performing Arts Bash, as well as developing the Student Production Organization Team (SPOT) — not to mention the other millions of tasks she completed with a smile. Tisha, on behalf of the Ned staff, volunteers, and community, thank you for all you’ve done to create a loving and accepting atmosphere in the Ned. We wish you the greatest success in your next chapter.

Anyone who has spent any time in the Ned knows Mr. Kenneth Wiley as the man with the know-how, humor, and unmistakable laugh. He knows this building better than anyone and is the backbone of this facility. This month, Mr. Kenny retires after 15 years with the Ned. Mr. K, you will be greatly missed, but we wish you a happy and healthy retirement. (You know we’ll be calling you with questions about light bulbs and table cloths, so don’t get too comfortable.)

Change is bittersweet, but as the Ned heads into the 2023-2024 season — the 50th anniversary of the Children’s and Teen Theatre — you can count on one absolute. Regardless of change, the Ned will continue to offer unparalleled hostmanship, high-quality productions, and open doors for all.
