Bjørn Johnson
Director
Bjørn Johnson, began his directing career as a Fight Director. Apprenticing to the renowned BH Barry, he assisted Mr. Barry on Broadway and Off-Broadway, eventually being recognized by his mentor as a Fight Director in his own right. Soon Mr. Johnson was executing fights for productions in these arenas including The Guthrie Theater, The Metropolitan Opera, The Boston Opera, and the Minneapolis Children’s Theater.
Having relocated to the west coast, his Los Angeles directorial debut was Amiri Baraka’s THE DUTCHMAN. The show won the LA Weekly Award for Best Direction. His shows at the Open Fist Theater Company are Vaclav Havel’s AUDIENCE soon followed by Arthur Miller’s AFTER THE FALL. Mr. Johnson turned heads with his direction of the LA Weekly Award winning LIGHT UP THE SKY by Moss Hart, MOON OVER BUFFALO and the world premiere of Neil LaBute’s THE NEW TESTAMENT. Mr. Johnson’s last project was B. FRANKLIN, performed by the late Robert Lesko.
