Thank you so much for coming out to The Weekend Theater! The Nether is my fourth play here after Inherit the Wind (small town lawyer), The Rooster Rebellion (homeless, disturbed drug addict) and, most recently, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (lobotomized patient with a Christ fixation). So, I’ve had good luck so far! Many thanks to Chris Klinger for offering me my latest twisted character(s)to play with. Even more thanks for guiding us through the discovery process, helping us find these characters and for his incredibly good taste in actors. Thanks also to Lisa Childers for keeping it all together. Finally, my fellow castmates, Alan, Byron, Heather and Virginia, are truly amazing and inspiring; I have stolen a lot from them. Working with all these incredible people to find and explore our Nether has been an absolute pleasure and a wonderful, challenging experience. Welcome to The Nether...

Virginia Hirsch

Virginia is proud to make her Weekend Theater debut in The Nether, her first stage appearance in many years after working as a director. She is currently an instructor of acting and directing at Arkansas State University, where she has most recently directed A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play, and where she is scheduled to direct the jukebox musical comedy Head Over Heels. Before transitioning to academia, Virginia worked professionally as a director, casting agent, and dramaturg following her graduate study in directing at the University of North Carolina: Greensboro.
