Director's Note:
Frozen Jr. is a fantastic musical adaptation of the 2013 film featuring the same characters and story that we all know and love. A whole generation has grown up enjoying the friendships of the characters and their journey, so the opportunity to bring this story to life felt like the perfect option for me! This production takes the best of the screen with the fun of a musical to present this tale with a variety of music and dance styles perfectly tailored to our performers. It was delightful to work with a cast who was so willing to try anything to make this the best show possible. My guiding theory in directing is that there are a thousand ways to do anything in a show and that, as a team, we can find the most creative options and use the best one for our production. In our case, that meant finding the characters for everyone on stage, no matter their role, and finding everyone’s personal flair in each scene. Our cast has seamlessly integrated their characters into our highly interactive props and even learned to extend their acting through puppeteering! I would like to thank Theater in the Park for inviting me into their family and giving me such a wonderful opportunity to work with all their amazing actors.
