Packing Up Polly by Leslie Kimbell 07/26/24-08/11/24
Polly Porter, famous 1970's gospel singer of the group POLLY PORTER & THE PRAISE HIS NAME SINGERS, has gone on up to heaven. Her daughter has come home to Savannah to pack up Miss Polly's house but there is just one little problem (or two or three): Miss Polly was a hoarder of epic proportions, Caroline's siblings are totally MIA, and her three best friends from high school have all shown up...UNANNOUNCED! The gospel music plays and the margaritas pour as the four ladies laugh, cry, scream, and COME TOGTHER to pack up Miss Polly's house, heal old wounds, and make new plans for their future.
The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson 09/06/24-09/22/24
Four beautiful, badass women lose their heads in this irreverent, girl-powered comedy set during the French Revolution. Playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle hang out, murder Marat, and try to beat back the extremist insanity in 1793 Paris. This grand and dream-tweaked comedy is about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world. It’s a true story. Or total fiction. Or a play about a play. Or a raucous resurrection…that ends in a song and a scaffold.
The Elephant Man by Bernard Pomerance 10/18/24-11/03/24
In 1880s London, John Merrick is a horribly deformed young man – a victim of rare skin and bone diseases. Under the care of celebrated physician Frederick Treves, Merrick slowly evolves from an object of pity to an urbane gentleman, desperate to be recognized as a man like any other.
My Three Angels by Samuel and Bella Spewack 11/29/24-12/15/24
The scene is French Guiana, a region where on Christmas day the temperature has graciously dropped to 104 degrees. Three convicts are employed as roofers by a family, whose roof is in desperate need of maintenance. On the way from France is an evil-minded cousin, to oust the father of the family from his business, and his cold-blooded nephew, who is jilting the father's daughter for an heiress. The three convicts—two of them murderers, the third a swindler—take the visitors on. All three have warm hearts and are passionate believers in true justice. Possessing every criminal art and penal grace, they set matters right and in doing so redeem themselves as real life angels to the grateful family.
