HAMILKONG: An American Parody - June 09 - June 29, 2019

Thinking With Fire

 Acknowledgements

No creative endeavor happens in a vacuum. HAMILKONG as it exists today would not be here without the monumental efforts of some incredible people.

- Sherry Berg is a quintuple threat: She acts, she sings, she dances, she produces, and she directs. When she came out to Los Angeles to complete her conquest of the theatrical world, I knew it would mean a bit of a shakeup. I didn't realize she would drag me kicking and screaming from my comfort zone. First came film festivals, then acting, and then producing and directing my first play. Sherry never gave up on me, and--more importantly--never let me give up on myself. HAMILKONG would never have left my hard drive without her.

- John Dellaporta was brought in as an objective set of eyes for the very first table read. Sitting around the table, eating our cheese and wine, we sang the 30-odd songs I'd written and went through the meandering story. John saw through the fan-boy BS and cut down to the chase: Why did this story need to be told. Through numerous rewrites, John coached and prodded and provoked, leading to the final draft of the story as you see it here. John helped realize the final vision of HAMILKONG, and his enthusiasm kept me going through the most stressful times.

- Corinne Strasser Korenman is an amazing woman. She is a muse, a cheerleader, a critic, and a willing audience for every single draft of a play--even if that play happens to be a mashup of two unlikely properties. She is the most supportive friend and wife a person could ask for, and it goes without saying that everything on this stage would not have happened without her. It should also be said that she is owed some well-earned vacation time after the hell I've put her through getting this show off the ground.

- Finally, this entire production would be meaningless without you, the audience. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for lending me your time and energy for an hour and change. Your laughter, applause, and bemused indifference kept us going during the weeks of prep and rehearsal. We do it all for you. Thank you for coming to our show.
