It has been an absolute dream creating this production of The Little Mermaid!
The process of producing a musical can be a daunting one. There are so many talented chefs in the kitchen, all putting their heads together to create the most amazing feast they can. It is easy to become overwhelmed throughout this process, and almost feel like you've fallen off a ship in a storm and are drowning! However, with the help of your friends, family, and team members, it becomes so much easier to flock together like a band of seagulls and fly.
Terrible show-related puns aside, it really has been a joy to work with my dedicated and talented students, colleagues, community volunteers and friends on this ambitious project. They've had each other's backs (and mine) throughout this challenge, and I hope they are as proud of the finished product as I am.
The reason that we do theatre in school isn't only to teach about how to perform or how to do specific production roles backstage. You learn about problem-solving, perserverance, empathy, and the value of community. Thank you for supporting arts education in Peterborough and I hope you have a wonderful time with us "Under the Sea!"
