Peter and the Starcatcher - April 25 - April 27, 2024

Thomas Jefferson High School

 End Notes

Life can be a rolley-coaster. The ups and downs, twists and turns, thrills and perils along the way are what make us into the people we are today and the people we will someday be. Peter and the Starcatcher shows us this journey as we see an orphan boy, soon to be known as Peter, teeter at the top of that ride as he becomes our well-known hero Peter Pan.

Peter and the Starcatcher shows us what it means to find ourselves and to find our family, whether that family is a father and daughter or a group of boys and an island of fantastical inhabitants. We can all find a place where we belong and we can all find our home when we know where we're looking.

For me, theatre has been my home for over half my life. It has allowed me to express myself, be creative, and tell stories. Most importantly, it has allowed me to share my passion with equally if not more passionate students.

In telling the story of Peter and the Starcatcher, these students have shown their passion and willingness to create something special. They've also created a cast and crew that is a family unto itself. They've cared for each other, lifted each other up, and shared in all the successes and struggles we've experienced over the production of our show.

Peter and the Starcatcher is a personal favorite show of mine and I am so proud of the work the students have put in to present you our rendition tonight. Dare to dream with us as we tell you the story of a boy and his desire to stay a boy for just a little while longer.

I would be remiss if I didn't end by giving thanks to the people who helped to make this show possible. Thank you to our admin team, office staff, custodians, teachers, parents, students, my family, and anyone else who made this show possible. There are so many people who make a show happen and we could not have done it without each and every one of you.

Seniors - I may have only worked with you for three years, but I am so proud of what you have accomplished in that time. You have developed into wonderful young adults and I look forward to everything that awaits you. Keep growing, keep changing, keep striving.
