Director's Note

High school will always be a place of education; additionally, it is a place of relationships. Teenagers are trying to figure out where they fit in, and how to relate to their classmates. There is always heartbreak and pain, but also joy, success, and lifetime friends. Grease gives us a glimpse into the world of high school. It isn't always pretty, but it is a lot of fun. Danny and Sandy found true love, but, back at school, the pressures of friends and culture made the relationship difficult. In the end, they made changes for each other, not out of peer pressure, but because they saw value in their relationship. Their friends also saw how much they cared for each other and realized they "will always be together."

During the process of this production, we have made every effort to make sure this show lines up with the values and mission at TCS. The actors know if they feel uncomfortable about anything, we stop and discuss, and make changes so they feel comfortable. Theatre is a process, and the process allows us to examine ourselves as actors, and also as an audience. It is my sincere hope you enjoy the show!
