Trike Theatre

 End Notes

A Note from the Playwright:

Welcome to Medusa’s first ever production! I am so thankful that you’ve come to see the show! Medusa is a compilation mystery incorporating elements from “The Red Headed League” and “A Case of identity” from Doyle’s The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and a few elements of my own all brought together to be performed by kids and teens. Sit back, but don’t relax, the show moves fast, and enjoy the show! -Riles Holiday

A Note from the Director:

Who doesn’t love a good Sherlock Holmes “whodunnit” about monsters in London, people turning into stone and periodically missing mannequins. I’ve always been a sucker for these types of stories, so when I had the opportunity to direct this world premiere (written by the incomparable Riles Holiday) I jumped at it. I fell in love with this play when I first read it this past summer. I loved the theatricality of the piece and how the “mechanicals” were the backbone of the play as well as the spooky vibes I got when reading it. But what really struck me was at its heart, the play was about a father and a daughter and the daughters journey from being a spectator to a full participant. Isn’t that really the evolution we all go through in life? We observe the world until we are old enough to become a full participant in it. Very human and relatable. I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge how amazing these young actors have been. It’s a gift to do what we do as theatre artists. And everyday I have spent with these incredibly talented young professionals I am reminded why I started doing this: for the love of it. We are challenged as artists to lessen the distance between people's hearts and minds. But we can lose sight of that with all of the other nonsense of life. This production has reminded me of why I do what I do and I have these amazing young actors to thank! May this production bring the joy to you that it has brought to me. -Steven Marzolf
