Dear Diary,
I saw the most amazing show in NYC…..THE PROM! I am heading into Saturday rehearsal for Freaky Friday and telling Ryan we HAVE to do this show!!!
Yes, I did enter Saturday rehearsal spouting off how much I enjoyed the show and that Truman Drama needed to do this show for so many reasons, trust me, far too may to list. Fast forward 3 years to being able to announce our upcoming production!
This musical represents so many things that I love….theatre references, snarky attacks on both sides of the coin, inspiration from true events, and a message that everyone needs a little reminder/lesson about truly made this a must-see/do musical for all high schools and I am grateful for this opportunity from Theatrical Rights Worldwide for my students to perform, our community to see, and our musical staff to rise to the challenge of another pilot.
This show and rehearsal process has been struggle, starting in the summer and giving up the end of summer vacation, feeling the pressure of presenting another pilot and continuing the tradition Lou started has weighed on the cast, crew and musical staff. We hope that our art presented on this stage has inspired joy, love, and acceptance and will spread throughout our community and beyond.
Each day I am reminded of Barry’s words, One Thing’s Universal, Life’s No Dress Rehearsal, so we hope that TRUMAN DRAMA has inspired our community and our guests to cast off their anger, negativity and enjoy the peaks and valleys. I would be remiss if I did not mention as a final note of thanks to James Morgan and the school board for believing in the program and for being supportive and allowing Truman Drama to be the theatrical trailblazers that this world needs!
XOXO,
Tracey
