We had an amazing cast and team lined up for 5 performances of the wonderful musical comedy “The Drowsy Chaperone”. We had a set and costume design, had hired the orchestra and had begun Production Classes where we had a table read, learned music, and began choreography. We all know what happened, preventing us from being able to perform this show as we envisioned. However, we have tremendous faith in our cast’s talent, ability and resilience. We have decided to share part of our “Drowsy” journey with you virtually. Although we set up a rehearsal schedule that tried to maintain a sense of normalcy, we had to recognize that what we were embarking upon was anything but normal, and approached individual situations with empathy and accommodation. Our goal is to engage our cast, their families and friends who are a part of this crazy (and yes, sometimes dysfunctional) family of artists we are at Acting Out. Theatre provides not only a refuge where these talented students can flourish, but gives them a sense of purpose in making something beautiful.

Thank you for joining us as we launch the Virtual Tribute to The Drowsy Chaperone! In the less than 30 minute video, we will be sharing our plans for the set and costumes along with reflection on the piece from our director, choreographer and music director. The cast and musicians will share some virtual song and dance numbers that will hopefully give you a glimpse into we hope to bring to fruition next spring. Although we are sad we couldn’t see you at the theatre for a full production, we are so happy to be able to bring you a small taste of this very special show. Until then, be safe, sit back and enjoy!
