 Director's Note & About

From the moment of its inception, it has always been the goal of Pineapple Theatre to put on a fully student run musical. While neither of us were college students at this time, from our first meeting with Pineapple Theatre hearing whispers of “musical” being said every so often sparked our interest immediately and we knew we had to play a part in making this advantageous dream a reality. From the first moment of sitting down and watching the cast’s initial audition videos, we knew we had something special. Despite the gold we struck with our incredibly talented, funny, and hardworking cast, our process was not without its challenges.

While there were plenty of instances when we felt like we weren’t so much as stumbling along rather than crumbling under the pressure of putting on a successful production that made us proud, it was in these moments where we found our greatest triumphs and moments of support and profound determination from our cast. When we thought we would have nothing onstage besides a chair and if we were lucky, a record player, we were regardless proud and satisfied with the group of actors entrusted to tell this story.

While this production is comical at surface level, our production is a love letter and proof to those looking to change a system and leave their mark creating a better future for those to come. To our wonderful cast; all of the success that triumphs that come from this weekend is because of you. We both have been so fortunate to work with many different casts in a multitude of productions and we can confidently say hands down that this is the most hardworking, versitile, and talented cast we have ever had the pleasure of working with. A group of actors willing to try their hand in marketing, publicity, costuming, and set building all for the success of production. Not asking for anything but doing it selflessly in the hopes and knowledge that their efforts will only enhance our production. Nothing you see on this stage could’ve been without the help of our cast, our wonderfully talented technical team, and designers all playing their individual role to transport our audience into this radiant and colorful world that we have been creating for the past 3 months. We could not have done this without each and every one of you as our collaborators, and we thank you.

We hope you enjoy this production half as much as we’ve enjoyed creating a zany, colorful, and hysterical world that we invite you to step into for the next two hours or so. This is only the first step of a very long and successful future for Pineapple Theatre. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Directors,
Kendall DeVecchis and Kat Royce
