as Penny Pingleton
My name is Nyree Rodriguez I am 15 years old and currently attending Schurr High School. I am involved in SHS Dance Team and SHS Theater Program. I have loved the Arts as far back as I can remember. I have been with Unplugged Performing Arts for 4 years now. This year I am a mentor for our juniors, I am in our Dance Team, and in Performing Arts. Being part of Unplugged has taught me the sky is the limit and great things come from hard work and perseverance. This is my third musical production with Unplugged. I previously played the roles of Carmen Diaz & Lamb Chomp in Fame, Jan in Grease, and now I will be playing the role of Penny Pingleton in this year’s production of Hairspray. I am so excited to play Penny, because she has always been my favorite character in Hairspray, so I am honored. I love my Unplugged family and I know that all of us are going to do amazing. Hello, my name is Amber. I am 14 3/4 and a freshman attending Schurr High School. I’m involved in many extracurricular activities such as Schurr High School Drill Team, Schurr High School Femineers, Youth Advisory Committee for the City of Commerce, Unplugged Performing Arts, Unplugged Dance Team, and an Unplugged Junior mentor. This is my third year in Unplugged. I have been a captain the past two years. Being in this group has been such an amazing adventure. When I first joined I never thought I would come this far. I previously played the role of Mabel in Fame and Marty in Grease. In this year’s production of Hairspray I will be playing the role of Amber Von Tussle. When I first joined this group, I was very shy and not really out of my comfort zone, now that I see myself, this group has really helped me grow to the person I am today. I hope you enjoy our show!
