A Note from the Director
Okay wait. When is "ever after"? Like...literally after the story? So they want us to believe that nothing bad ever happened ever after? That's why people love "Into the Woods", the story continues in a way that is honest and realistic. Of course, you people won't see that today. This "Jr." version only displays the first half of the story. But I say to you, gentle theatre patron, keep your eyes peeled. In our production, you'll see a bit more. An observant audience member will notice minor details that will hold specific significance after "ever after". That split second in which one character eyes another holds a lot of weight. Or a quick use of slapstick actually foreshadows another character's fate. Pay strong attention to the finale, and you'll see a glimpse of what is to come of our heroes, villains, and those unfortunately caught in between. I leave you with a riddle: How far can you go into the woods?
Answer: Halfway. Then you're leaving the woods.
