   Who's Who   

Amanda Battle (Tyche) Amanda Wolk Battle is a 2007 alumna of Virginia Wesleyan and is playing Tyche in The Shield.  She thoroughly enjoys teaching AP English and Drama at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake.  Her most recent role was Antonia in Virginia Wesleyan's production of The Tempest.  She would like to thank her husband, Eddie, for his continual support, Dr. Shedd and Dr. Malone for their guidance and friendship, and her students for the inspiration to keep growing as an actor.

 

Gabriella Bergstrom (Chorus) Gabriella Bergstrom is the youngest member of the Chorus. She is a 7th grader at Tidewater Collegiate Academy, part of the VWU campus. She has participated in cabaret-style productions from Kids on Broadway (KOB) put on by Theatrix Productions, Inc. every summer for the last three summers. She enjoys every minute of being on the stage and looks forward to her next theatrical opportunity.

 

Kayla Bissette (Chorus) Kayla Bissette is a member of the Chorus, and this past fall she was a member of the choir in Virginia Wesleyan University's production of The Christians.

 

Brendan Ferguson (Chorus) Brendan Ferguson is interested in acting in his first production. He is a student at Virginia Wesleyan University majoring in Communications. He is a part of the Chorus. His experience in this field includes directing a short student film in 2019, as well as acting and editing in short YouTube videos.

 

Hannah Carmona (Cleo) is a freshman Communication major and a Theatre minor from Chesapeake, Virginia. This is her second VWU production and her first time debuting in a principal role. The Christians was her first VWU production where she was a member of the chorus. She was also performed as a dancer in the 2017 production of Little Shop of Horrors at Hickory High School. She would like to thank God and her parents for inspiring her to embrace the stage. She would also like to thank her drama teacher Mrs. Wood for giving her the best advice, “In order to be a good actor, you must overcome the fear of looking stupid.”

 

Darrian Carr (Charles) is a senior Theatre major and an aspiring tv/film actor. He always type up the same thing for his bios and he wanted to do something else, but he never know what to say, so this is all you get. He hope you enjoy the show!

 

Joseph Chatman (Justice Hugh Jacobs) is a freshman in the Batten Honors College who is expected to graduate with the class of 2023. He is currently pursuing a double major in Philosophy and Theatre and aspires to professionally act on television.

 

Zoe Cruz (Chorus) is a psychology major at Virginia Wesleyan. She graduated from Atlantic Shores Christian School, after living in Japan and Cyprus as well as Virginia. She participated in VWU's winter production of Puffs (Susie Bones/Harry). She enjoys reading and playing with her dogs on her time off from school. She'd like to thank God and her family for this opportunity.

 

Meleena Dreiling (Chorus) Meleena started on stage in elementary school, as a member of my school's chorus group for the play You're A Good Man Charlie Brown. After that, it wasn't until her junior year of high school were she went on the stage again, as a member of my school's talent show. Unfortunately, she does not know how she was placed in the competition.

 

Kathryn Durfee (Sparky) Kathryn is a sophomore majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. Kati (as she sometimes goes by) has only been in one other production, Puffs as Hannah and others. She is very excited to be a part of The Shield. She would like to thank her parents and boyfriend for letting her always have fun for believing in her!

 

Sam Gazala (Chorus) is a sophomore, Math education major, and have been in several shows including Legally Blonde: The Musical, The Christians and Puffs here at VWU.
