A note from the Writer/Director: Derek Velez Partridge
I’m extremely honored to be making my theatrical debut here at the historic SoHo Playhouse, if only these walls could talk and I hope they’re listening.
I’m proud to bringing this very emotional play “Waiting on a Second Act” to the stage. I wrote this piece as part of a larger project but when Jose E. Soto asked me to write a one-man show, I leaped at the opportunity.
I had some personal issues that could only be expressed on stage. Television/film has become more and more plot driven and normally in a screenplay, this kind of subject matter would be summed up and rarely explored on screen.
Although I’m still developing the larger project, this play gave me the ability to really dive into my ideas, and characters.
Working with Jose has been a dream. He’s so hard working and willing to open emotional doors and his performance is so pure and honest.
I look forward to sharing this play with you.
Our entire production would like to thank Darren Lee Cole, for being straight forward and reasonable. A trait that’s always appreciated.
