The Lady in the Van - November 10 - November 12, 2016

Viva

 Who's Who

  • Mary Barnes head shot

    Mary Barnes

    as Mary Shepherd

Mary is delighted to have, once again, been typecast in a glamorous role. As a method actor, Mary has carefully not washed since rehearsals began for Lady in the Van in September, leading to Viva’s first “smellaround” performance. Any odours you may experience during the performance have been naturally produced. Mary will next be seen performing as Worzel Gummidge in a made-up venue in Slough.

  • Daniel White head shot

    Daniel White

    as Alan Bennett

Lady in the Van marks a return to Viva for Daniel. Before he took a break from performing he had roles in several of Viva's youth theatre productions, including Mr Scheinkopf in Fame (2005), the narrator in Blood Brothers and various roles in Little Shop of Horrors (2007), all of which achieved the sell-out show award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Daniel says: 'Performing with Viva has provided a great deal of opportunity for me to develop, both on and off stage.'

  • David Blyth head shot

    David Blyth

    as Alan Bennett

David has previously appeared in The Ghost Train, Pride and Prejudice and A Christmas Carol and has thoroughly enjoyed the last three years with Viva. Now, with trepidation, he looks forward to donning the glasses, jersey and jacket to become Alan the writer, taking inspiration from Mr Bennett himself when he said “Sometimes there is no next time, no time-outs, no second chances. Sometimes it’s now or never”.

  • Pamela Peters head shot

    Pamela Peters

    as Mam

Originally from York, Pamela's am-dram hobby began there as a teenager with the Rowntree Musical Theatre group. She continued in a variety of genres until 'life took over!' So after 35 years of resting, the roll of Mam has re-introduced her to the fun and challenge and fear of learning just a few lines. Thank you Viva for the reprise.
