From the Director...
When this movie first came out, I was hooked. I bought the VHS as soon as it was released as well as the cassette of the movie score. Yes, it came out a while ago. And yes, I am that old. Something about the music and the story and the characters just stay with you. Is it the campy-ness of the show conjuring memories of old horror comic books and Tales from the Crypt story lines? Do we sometimes identify with the bad choices Seymour ultimately makes because we too feel trapped? Is it the melody lines and rhythm of the music as we hum the score subconsciously? Whatever it is... it is fun! This show is not a commentary on our times. It's not allegorical or philosophical. It's certainly not going to solve any world problems. It will, however, offer an escape from the chaos of our lives and maybe make us feel a little bit better about our own personal “skid rows.” So sit back and “order up a rainbow to go” but PLEASE, whatever you do, DON’T FEED THE PLANTS!
