Grease School Edition - February 23 - February 27, 2022

Warrensburg-Latham High School

 FROM THE DIRECTOR

In the summer of 1978, I sat in the back seat of a Chevy Impala and watched Grease at a drive-in movie theater with my family. As I peered over the bench seat, I fell in love with the music, the dancing, and the unforgettable characters. Grease is a classic!!

We are so excited to present this classic to you ON stage and IN person! At the time of this writing, we still do not know if we will be performing in masks or not, but we do know how grateful we are to be back in front of a live audience. Thank you for supporting our school and live theater! A theater program is such a multifaceted and often overlooked educational experience. It is so much more than learning lines, songs, and dance. This production has been created with teamwork, responsibility, creativity, problem-solving, cooperation, prioritizing, and so much more! Theater creates a family of members who depend on and help each other get through one of the most amazing, yet exhausting, experiences of their school career.

It is my hope that every cast member can participate in the performances. Throughout our rehearsals we had several cast members quarantine under strict COVID regulations. I want to draw your attention to the understudies listed in the program and thank them for their work and preparation. Our understudies have not only learned their own role in the show but are prepared to jump in and help with other roles if needed. We will announce any cast changes made at the beginning of each performance.

It's now almost 44 years after I first fell in love with Grease, but this time I am peering over a windowsill from the light booth behind you. This time I am watching our amazing Warrensburg-Latham cast sing, dance, and bring this classic to life. These talented cast members and the characters they have created are truly amazing! Please sit back and relax, imagine you are at the drive-in, and enjoy while they sing and dance their way through this classic!
