Disney's Beauty and the Beast, with its memorable music and clever dialogue, gives us the opportunity to remember younger days and simpler times. Yet the story also reminds us of the importance of looking beyond appearances and the power of kindness--both themes that resonate in our lives today. Thank you to all of you, our audience members, for your support of the students and their production.
Productions at WCHS, for decades, have been student-produced efforts. WCHS takes great pride that students demonstrate ownership in every aspect of the production. This model for growing and developing actors, musicians, and stage technicians is largely due to the work of Dwight Hershberger, who taught at WCHS from 1975-2004. Dwight--or simply HB--worked with every play and musical production through his entire tenure at WCHS. This model created opportunities for students to excel in areas across the entire production, not just on stage. HB’s commitment to modeling excellence, and his commitment to detail, established a program in which all students found a unique niche. It is a model we aspire to reach to this day. We honor the legacy of our beloved mentor, Dwight Hershberger, and we dedicate the 2024 production to honor his memory and his family.
We would also like to honor the memory of Gloria McNett who passed away on November 8. Gloria was a devoted educator, volunteer, and community leader, along with a current long-time member of the WCHS School Board. Gloria was an ardent supporter of the performing arts at WCHS, and she will be missed
