DIRECTORS NOTES
I was in a physical comedy class, as a theatre student at the University of Minnesota. Our class was interrogating the professor for stories about their life as a performer, reveling in tales of past theatre triumphs, and attempting to glean a clue that would unravel the mystery of how to become successful actors. "Our goal was to make the audience laugh out loud at least once, every thirty seconds" our teacher quipped, but this line has stuck with me for years.
Could it be that simple? Doesn't a show have to be about something important? Can we really justify pouring all this time and energy into creating a show with the sole purpose of having fun and making us all laugh?
That's the puzzle we hope to piece together tonight. Consider these notes your own mysterious invitation to join us in our collective joy! Don't get bogged down worrying too much about the plot, instead come along for the ride as we stumble through a host of mystery tropes and the strange jokes we discovered along the way!
It's been a fantastic journey laughing with this cast and crew and we hope you laugh along with us. In fact, we hope you laugh along with us at least once every thirty seconds. The show runs about an hour so if all goes as planned we're looking at 120 laughs before the curtain call! Enjoy the show
