Though I had recently made the decision to retire from directing, when approached about stepping back into the director’s chair for A Christmas Carol, this timeless and beautiful story drew me back in.
Dicken’s work has been a part of my Christmas celebrations every year for decades. Why this story in particular? Because Dicken’s had a unique talent of taking a simple concept and making something unique and enduring. The script embraces Dicken’s novel and does not stray from his words or intent. The characters he created come alive through talented performers who will take you on a journey, to perhaps see yourself in theirs and Dickens' work.
While there is much I knew before starting on this director’s journey, the most interesting thing I learned through my preparation is that telling ghost stories in Victorian times was a standard tradition. To that end, I hope you enjoy this Christmas Ghost Story either for the first time or as part of your Christmas tradition.
I am very grateful for the many talented individuals who have given many hours and much energy to create a beautiful, entertaining, and moving experience for our audiences.
We all Wish You A Merry Christmas.
