CLUE: On Stage - October 07 - October 16, 2022

West Bend Theatre Co.

 DIRECTOR'S NOTES

Welcome to West Bend Theatre Company's season opening production of
Clue On Stage!

So how does a theater company stage the Clue "brand? How do we present a story that is recognizable yet fresh? How do we stage the ending? If you've ever played Clue the board game, you've undoubtedly experienced countless different endings. If you have ever seen the 1985 movie, you've probably seen a few different endings. I am proud to tell you that this team has crafted a story that you will in fact recognize. We have attempted to pay homage to the board game. Most of all, we have a show that is uniquely our own.

Here is the point in my Director's Notes where I'm supposed to tell you that this play explores the ideas of good and evil, that people aren't always whom they first appear to be, and that humans are infinitely more complex than the black-or-white representations we often see on stage. Yes, I could spend another paragraph or two delving into these ideas. But that wouldn't be any fun at all, and would likely cause you to put this playbill in your pocket and look at your Twitter feed.

Putting this production together has been a labor of love for this theater company. This show has drawn very talented actors, technicians, artists and stage hands. We've spent literally thousands of hours crafting what you are about to see. This show has been uniquely entertaining for us all along the way. We are now thrilled to share it with you.

Now that you are here, sit back and enjoy the show. After all, you can't go anywhere else for the next two hours. All the doors are locked, the windows are barred, and there are vicious guard dogs patrolling the grounds.
