Catherine Marlett Dreher (Lighting Designer)
Catherine Marlett Dreher has designed lights for over 250 productions in the West Michigan area, including shows for Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, Circle Theatre, Actors’ Theatre, Jewish Theatre Grand Rapids, Aquinas College, GVSU, Grand Rapids Community College and Cornerstone University. Theatre credits include: Shakespeare in Love, Mamma Mia!, Burnt Part Boys, Fun Home, Into the Woods, The Little Mermaid, Dracula, My Fair Lady, It Shoulda Been You, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. She also designs lights for corporate events. She works as the Production Manager and Resident Lighting Designer at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre.
Darren LaPrise (Orchestra Conductor)
Mr. Darren LaPrise has been the Director of Bands at West Catholic since 1996. He has led the Marching Bands, the Concert Bands, the Jazz Bands and conducted the West Catholic Musicals. He is happily married to Lisa and has two sons, Preston (21) and Carson (20). He has his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Michigan State University and his Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University. His West Catholic bands have performed in New York, Los Angeles, Germany, Ireland, and Italy twice; including a performance for Pope Benedict 16th. He was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni and the Guest Commencement Speaker for his Alma Mater Centerline High School in 2013 and was also nominated for a Grammy in 2013 and 2014 as an Outstanding Musical Educator. He dabbles in arranging and composition but mostly enjoys: spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, watching sports and, of course, music.
