Madagascar A Musical Adventure Jr. - April 21 - April 22, 2023

West Clermont Middle School

 From the Director:

After the exhilirating success of WCMS's inaugural musical, Seussical Jr., we wondered how to top that kind of passion for compassion again. Dr. Seuss gave us a blank canvas and colorful characters who reminded us to be kind - which was exactly what we needed for our rebranded drama program. And, while 2022's musical remains an important show in our hearts, it is time for us to venture out... into the wild!

I personally remember when DreamWorks released Madagascar in 2005 (almost 20 years ago?!) and my siblings and I rented it from the library every. week. We loved the characters and memorized the quotes to a T. Now that we're all feeling old, isn't it impressive how these characters have stood the test of time?

It is truly a pleasure to share our interpretation of Madagascar Jr. and it's kooky characters with you, our dedicated audience, and we hope that you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoy putting it on. Thank you for your support and attendance.

I would like to extend a special thank you to the students who participated in this production. Your hard work and dedication to the craft of theater shines through in every scene and song. It is a privilege to work with such talented and committed students.

In closing, I would like to invite our audience to visit our virtual playbill and read the cast and crew biographies. All of them. You will never meet a more grateful group of artists than these 6-8th graders.

As directors, we love reading about the people for whom these kids are thankful. We know that with middle school theater comes the added layer of scheduling complicated drop-off and pick-up schedules. We love to see that they are receiving encouragement at home, and we love the amount of creativity and diversity they have brought into the production. We especially love reading about the kids who created stage families and the meaningful impact their time at our rehearsals have. This is why the arts are important. They are why the arts are important.

Enjoy!
