Alice in Wonderland - April 12 - April 14, 2024

West Sylvan Middle School

 Director's Note

Hello and welcome to Alice in Wonderland! There are so many different intepretations of this tale, and yet through every version there is still something new to be gleamed beyond the looking glass.

When I presented this show as an option to the West Sylvan Drama Club, I was surpised at the passionate response to having the chance to perform in Wonderland. After going through our last few months of rehearsals, it is so obvious to me what is special about this story, and this increidble group of actors that is performing it for you today.

Wether it's Alice' constantly looking foward (at times perhaps to her detriment), or how Wonderland itself becomes a character in the way that each scene makes you question something about the life you know. The kids react to these characters in a profoundly interesting way, from our smallest Dormouse to the Queen at the top of her throne.

I am so lucky to have the chance to work with such curious young actors. It is especially bittersweet this year, as I say goodbye to my 8th graders this year, who were such a bright start to my journey as the Drama Director here at West Sylvan Middle School. I hope that these kids and their passion reminds you to stay curious, and look at the world with a new perspective. You never know, something just might truly surpise you!

Thank you for supporting live theatre and enjoy the show!
