 A Note From the Director

Welcome to the Barton Test Theater!

We’re creepy and we’re kooky. Mysterious and spooky….we’re all together ooky….we are THE ADDAMS FAMILY! Welcome to our show. I am over the moon for this production. The cast and crew have worked tirelessly to bring you this fun, heartfelt, quirky musical experience. The title of this show is telling, because we have become a true family. No production comes together like this without an amazing level of dedication and commitment from the performers and the production team, so I have several people to shout out and to thank from the bottom of my heart. First of all- THE CAST! You are magical. Your hard work and the endless hours of rehearsal have paid off. You are going to blow everyone away. Next, I need to thank my spectacular Tech Director Justin Baker. Justin designed and implemented the gorgeous lighting for this show, along with building our spooky, ooky mansion. Justin is the beating heart of this department and I am so grateful to be part of his team. On to the scenic design. There is nothing like having a true visionary designer bring a story to life. Thank you to Jack McManus for this joyous Addams Family world. Every detail adds dimension and depth to this much loved story. In keeping with the design of the show, a huge thank you to our Costume Designer, Bria Dinkins. Their attention to detail and way with our students is unmatched. Bravo and thank you.

As our show opens you will hear the work of our next team member. Megan Woodring, our Musical Director, has brought the very best out in all of our singers. They sound amazing! Megan also is conducting our Pit Orchestra. Thank you for sharing your multiple talents with this show. I also need to extend a huge thank you to our Choreographer, Sara Buscaglia. Sara has put endless hours into working with our students. Her kindness and strong work ethic have brought these dance numbers to another level. WAIT until you see these Westonians tango!

As usual, I need to thank my friends, family, and the amazing Alex (my kiddo) for keeping me sane and supporting me in all my theater adventures. Many times this year, I have tried to figure out what series of FORTUNATE events have led me here to Westtown. I am extraordinarily grateful to be here and to have the opportunity to work with this program and with these students. Please enjoy the show. We have adored every step of getting it ready for you. So…Put a witch's shawl on, a broomstick you can crawl on, we’re gonna pay a call on….The Addams Family! (snap, snap)

Dramatically Yours,

Shawn
