The most delicious candy in the world that some people do spit out.
1. Caramalize 1/2 cup of white sugar in a skillet
2. Add 2 cups of sour cream
3. Add 2 1/2 cups of sugar to caramelized sugar and cook to soft ball stage
4. Set of stove and add 1 cup of chopped walnuts (or not!), 2 tablespoons of butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla
5. Cool
6. Beat until stiff and spread in the pan
The receipe starts by caramelizing sugar. This is dry--no water added--which can be tricky the first time you try it. There are good instructional videos. A wooden spoon works best. The soft ball stage means that bit dipped into cold water holds its shape but can't be picked up.
