She shows up prepared for every rehearsal and consistently works to better herself not only as a performer, but as a leader. Her passion, creativity and heart are admired by all those who surround her.

This year’s award goes to someone who consistently comes to rehearsal prepared and is always focused, attentive, and ready to play. She works incredibly hard daily, both in rehearsal and outside of it too. This year her part has been particularly difficult because it is mostly written for a different instrument, and it has forced her to take a huge leap out of her comfort zone. I knew going into this show that she would have to work extra hard, but I was confident that she would be up to the challenge. I have known her for almost 8 years now so I know how diligent and dedicated she is. She is also helpful, friendly, thoughtful, and an excellent example for everyone in the orchestra.

This year's Red Leader recipient is principal violist

Maritza Mendoza Ochoa!

That is why Maritza Mendoza Ochoa has earned the Red Leader Award. Congratulations Mari, and thank you for all your hard work!
