Thank you for coming to Taft Theatre's production of Blood Wedding by Federico Garcia-Lorca! We're very happy you're here and grateful for your support of the Taft Fine Arts Department and Taft Theatre Company.
Over the past few months that I've gotten to spend with this cast of smart students, we've had such great fun exploring and building this play. This couldn't have been accomplished without the hard work and brilliance that these students manage to show up with every day. They've made my very first production at Taft feel like a dream come true. I am incredibly proud to be here and I'm so looking forward to seeing what we'll create with them.
As many of us know, it takes a village to put on a play and there are a few people to thank and celebrate. Our administrators who support our program so fervently. Our Taft Theatre Company Support board members who've been incredible resources to make it all run so smoothly. Edna Guajardo, Afrika Hairston, and Andrea Williams for assisting us with the production details. Matt and Celeste Knight for designing us with our stunning show shirts. Huge thanks to all the parents who helped us "feed the need" to get our artists nourished. Lastly, thank you to Roy Moya for doing such gorgeous work on our light design!
Thank you to Greg Mills, Rebekah Bulen, and Esther Williams for being such pillars of support throughout the process. Massive thanks to Esther Burton for not just the technical work she's done on this play, but for leading me to Taft. Another massive thanks to Amanda Pyle for her mentorship and support throughout the first few months of my very eventful first year.
A major thanks to our sponsor Dirty Dough for their generous sponsorship of this production!
A couple of reminders about this production: this production is staged a little differently than our typical productions. You may be in very close quarters with audience members and even our actors! We ask that you be mindful of your feet and knees on the playing space. We also ask that you NOT walk across the stage if you need to exit for any reason either during intermission or during the performance. Instead, follow the front rows of the seats. Additionally, just like any other theatrical performance, silence and power down all cell phones and other noise making devices.
Once again, we're so happy you came to our play and we hope you enjoy tonight's production.
Warm Regards,
Carlos J. (Charlie) Rodriguez
