Directing this show has been a thrilling experience. Into the Woods has always been one of my favorite shows and this production of it will live in my heart forever. The themes of hardship, found family, and the relationships between parents and their children will alway resonate and I hope this production will resonate with you! Stephen Sondheim created a true masterpiece with Into the Woods and I believe our students do him proud with their performance.
This show has truly been a labor of love for all involved. Every rehearsal and all the time spent working on the show on top of their school commitments has led to this moment. I also know that our families are a huge part of making something this big come together. You are appreciated!
Thank you to Rebekah Bulen for being my Sondheim soulmate! I can’t believe you agreed to do two Sondheim musicals in one year with me, we couldn’t have done it without you! To Esther Burton for being the brilliant tech director that you are, your concept and execution of the design of the show is an inspiration. I am also just lucky to work with you and know you. To Charlie Rodriguez, thank you for always seeing my vision and being my perfect creative counterpart. You are a gem of a human being and you always SLAY! Thank you to Roy Moya for always making us look good! And thank you to our incredible Taft Theatre Company Support Board, without you I would be hungry, cranky, disorganized and franzled!
And to our Seniors, thank you for all your hardwork and dedication to this department and the production. I am so proud of each of you and know that you will all go on to great things in the future!
